large or unusual payments being received or paid out they will ask about them – that is standard money laundering regulations.

Or if they see transfers to another bank account they will also want to see those bank statements – it all sounds very strict and pedantic, but they do have to ensure that the third of income ruling is complied to.

A mortgage with a French bank can be taken over a period of 20 years – with some lenders 25 years. But the mortgage cannot be extended over anyone’s age of 75 years.

Monthly repayments on a longer term mortgage are lower than a shorter term mortgage.

Sometimes, if a person wants a mortgage over say a 10 or 15 year period – maybe they know they will be paying the mortgage off early – the repayments may be too high for their income, and by looking at the term of the mortgage and increasing it, we can make sure they stay within the income limits.

We do have an ‘Initial Enquiry’ form on our website, so if anyone wishes, we can calculate just how much a mortgage they can afford, the approximate monthly costs and a guideline to the maximum purchase price they should be looking at.

No one likes disappointment – we do our best to help people avoid that disappointment.

There’s lot of information on our website www.mortgagefrance.com, which takes you step by step through the whole mortgage procedure, and if anyone has any questions whatsoever there is a contact button on each page, and even a ‘Don’t Panic’ button on the home page.

Or we can be contacted on info@mortgagefrance.com
