Patrick Middleton tells us about the French perception of 'Les Anglais'.
Perhaps not too surprisingly all British expats are lumped under the same tag as 'Les Anglais'. However this may seem to us, it is the accepted way of dealing with the different groups within our nation.
Patrick cites the situation when an American killer was on the run and ended up hiding in a small French village. When he was apprehended finally the French even called him 'The Englishman'. Now whatever your opinion of American English, he was clearly not English.
It is also interesting why you can find many Scots or Irish around the world but not so many Welsh people. Patrick suggests the reasons behind this.
As an interesting aside, did you know that 'Big Ben' was named after a Welsh man? Patrick tells all!
He also tells us about his interview with the French Prim Minister's wife who is Welsh.
Patrick Middleton is the Features Editor of 'The Riviera Reporter' and he can be contacted via the magazine at: www.rivierareporter.com or through us by clicking on the contact button below.
