Property in Midi-Pyrénées:
Toulouse is said to be a city where many French people would like to live. However, more and more foreigners are becoming interested in this region, the A20 motorway has opened the area up and low cost airlines serving the region may also have something to do with it. However, you will hopefully find a very reasonably priced property in Tarn or Aveyron or if you want to do up say an old farmhouse try Haute- Pyrénées. Gers is generally quite expensive, especially close to Auch, but very popular with Brits as is Tarn. Lot has already been discovered by the French as well as many foreigners as a good place to escape the 21st century's hectic existence, a very peaceful spot may also be found in Ariège or Tarn-et-Garonne. In Haute Garonne both population and property prices are increasing and Toulouse itself is quite expensive but the suburbs are more affordable.
Food and wine in Midi-Pyrénées:
Another region where our food and wine lovers will not be disappointed. Popular here are all sorts of hearty dishes with duck and goose (Lot and Tarn-et-Garonne),good soups, lamb roasts, sausages, yes and foie gras which is not exactly healthy food, but they also cook with lots of vegetables and garlic. Cassoulet is a speciality made with one of our feathered friends , sausages, beans and some other ingredients, available too are truffles, dried ham of Lacaune, wild mushrooms and fresh water fish from the lakes and rivers. As for the cheeses, this is where Roquefort comes from, made from ewe's milk but there are also many goat's cheeses and wild goat is on the menu in Haute- Pyrénées. Cahors wine deserves a mention and of course
