Armagnac (brandy). Apples, plums and other fruit is often used in tarts, pastries and pancakes, they bake delicious cakes and chocoholics will not feel left out.

Getting to Midi-Pyrénées:

Airports:

There is an international airport at Toulouse (British Airways, Air France, Flybe, easyjet, bmi, Jet2) and a regional airport at Rodez to which low cost airlines fly from the UK (Ryanair). As always, beware of the low cost airlines, we do not know how long the service will last.

Road network:

The relatively new A20 motorway has made a big difference to this region and generally speaking the roads are not very busy except around the bigger towns and Toulouse. In the mountains snow can mean that passes are closed, sometimes as late as May.

To give you an idea : Calais - Toulouse is about 960km and takes a bit over 9hrs and Cherbourg –Toulouse 930km (using motorway when possible) takes about 9hrs 30min.

Railway network:

As always you can travel by Eurostar to Paris. The TGV high speed train from Paris serves Agen, Montauban and Toulouse (approx. 5hrs), it also serves Lourdes and Tarbes (approx. 6hrs). Regular trains also serve this region.
