He tells us that from today, No Panic is available in France. Their new number is 02 51 28 80 25.
No Panic is a totally voluntary charity whose aim is to give relief and rehabilitation to people suffering from anxiety conditions including tranquilliser withdrawal.
They provide support to sufferers, their families and carers by providing a confidential helpline, this is a Free phone Number: 0808 808 0545 and is open from 10.00 am to 10.00 pm everyday of the year, including Christmas Day. This help-line is manned by trained volunteers.
They also provide a crisis anxiety line which is available 24 hours daily and gives a recorded message of calming breathing exercises and a reassuring talk down from anxiety.
There are Telephone Recovery Groups whereby a group of normally eight people, plus a group leader are helped and supported in their self help recovery plan. These Groups take place over the telephone from the comfort of the persons own home; the only cost being a one hour telephone call. The course is 14 weeks in duration.
One to one mentoring, once again, over the telephone and for a duration of 6 weeks.
There is a Contact Book for members wishing to communicate with fellow sufferers either by telephone and maybe penpals.
Literature, books, audio and video cassettes relevant to anxiety are available.
Written Recovery Programmes which entail a step by step guide to overcoming anxiety conditions including OCD.
They also provide information designed to raise public and professional awareness of the problems created by anxiety disorders.
There is a membership fee of £10.00 per year.
