Patrick Middleton of the Riviera Reporter speaks to Expatsradio about some of the problems that might pop up on a visit to the south coast of France.
Patrick begins with a run down of the weather at the lead-in to the summer season. He emphasizes the fact that the climate can be less attractive than what is painted in the travel brochures.
He also covers fuel theft, which is rife across Europe. Sadly, often the thieves escape without penalty because of the low detection rate.
To add to our troubles the new threat from jellyfish and tiger mosquitos makes you wonder if holidays in the sun are such a good idea!
We all know, of course, that if conditions were extremely difficult nobody would go and expats would not consider this area as a place to set up a new life.
It is however, wise to be prepared and Patrick provides us with a list of suggestions that will certainly help us to avoid problems.
As a finale, Patrick gives us a tip for eating out at a new South African venue. Sounds terrific and I, for one, will be heading down at the end of the summer!
Patrick is with us for regular programmes on his area in the south of France as well as intriguing insights into what it is really like to be a long-term expat.
