Another informative programme from Virginia! She gives us advice on how to keep the bugs in our garden under control and tells us how to make a special nettle potion. Although pretty smelly it is a good feed for the plants, it keeps the aphids and whitefly at bay and it is organic! Apparently, it is also excellent for tomatoes.
We also learn that moles are not all bad news as the actual molehills are excellent potting soil and of course the moles have done all the digging for you. Peter's suggestion of starting a pro-mole society might be slightly over the top!
Virginia also touches on planting in trenches with wet newspapers but you will have to listen to the programmes to see how that works. It is not only newspapers you should be saving but eggshells too. They can be used, together with some multi-purpose potting mix and some blood and bone to make a wonderful mix to which you can add some bark to help with drainage and some calcium. This can be used for your seed raising and your seedlings.
You will have to listen to this programme to find out how Virginia found a fish in her garden!
